Caring for your jewellery
A little care helps keep your jewellery looking its best. Follow these simple steps when wearing, cleaning and storing your Hola Maria pieces.
Everyday wear
- Put your jewellery on after applying perfume, skincare, sunscreen and make-up. Allow products to dry before wearing your pieces.
- Remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising or cleaning.
- Avoid contact with chlorine, salt water and household chemicals.
- Handle chains, clasps and settings gently. Avoid pulling or forcing components.
Keeping your pieces dry and limiting contact with chemicals helps protect their finish.
Cleaning your jewellery
After wearing, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to remove surface oils and residue.
For gold vermeil, use light pressure and avoid vigorous rubbing. Do not use abrasive cleaners, silver dips or chemically treated polishing cloths unless they are specifically suitable for gold vermeil. Abrasion can wear down the gold layer.
If your piece needs more than a gentle wipe, contact us for cleaning advice before using a cleaning solution.
Storing your pieces
Store your jewellery separately in its pouch or a compartmented jewellery box to reduce rubbing, scratching and tangling.
Choose a cool, dry place away from humidity, and make sure your jewellery is dry before putting it away.
Gold vermeil and sterling silver
Gold vermeil has a thick gold layer over sterling silver. Gentle cleaning helps preserve that layer.
Sterling silver and gold vermeil can tarnish over time. Gold plating may also gradually wear with use. These changes can vary with exposure, storage and how often a piece is worn; regular care can help maintain its appearance.
Stones and settings
Clean gently around stones and avoid pulling, pressing or catching their settings.
If you notice a loose stone, damaged setting or faulty clasp, stop wearing the piece and contact us before attempting a repair.
